File a report and it doesn't vanish into a void. Here's the exact path it takes, which department handles it, and the response time we hold everyone to — all of it public, every step of the way.
Every report walks the same five steps, and each one leaves a public record the whole neighborhood can see.
Pick a category, drop the pin, add photos. Your report lands on the map and in the neighborhood feed in seconds, and it's automatically tagged with the right department and a response target.
Status · UnverifiedSomeone nearby confirms it's real with one tap — not staff, not a bot. A verified report carries weight; it's what we're willing to hand to the city on your block's behalf.
Status · VerifiedA real person enters the verified report into New Orleans' actual 311 system and pairs it with the real city tracking number (SR#). We do this by hand — the city has no automatic connection — which keeps a human quality check on every one.
Status · SentIt's routed to the team that handles that kind of problem (see below), and tracked against its response target. If it blows past the target, you can escalate it to the council office — and the clock on their responsiveness starts too.
Tracked against targetWhen the city marks it fixed, you get the final say: confirm the fix, or flag that it's not actually done. Your word is the one that counts — no one else's closes your report quietly.
Status · ResolvedTrash goes to Sanitation, blight goes to Code Enforcement, a pothole goes to Public Works — the category you pick sends your report to the team responsible, with the response time we aim for.
| What you're reporting | Goes to | Our target |
|---|---|---|
| Flooding | Sewerage & Water Board | 48 hrs |
| Sewer / manhole | Sewerage & Water Board | 48 hrs |
| Traffic signal | Public Works / NOPD | 48 hrs |
| Missed trash pickup | Sanitation | 48 hrs |
| Street light out | Entergy / City | 7 days |
| Signage (missing / damaged) | Public Works | 7 days |
| Litter | Sanitation | 7 days |
| Pothole | Public Works | 14 days |
| Illegal dumping | Sanitation | 14 days |
| Abandoned vehicle | NOPD / Sanitation | 14 days |
| Graffiti | Code Enforcement | 14 days |
| Parks / green space | Parks & Parkways | 14 days |
| Overgrown lot | Code Enforcement | 21 days |
| Commercial nuisance | Code Enforcement | 21 days |
| Blighted structure | Code Enforcement | 30 days |
| Something else | Staff triage → routed by hand | 14 days |
One routing note: illegal dumping or trash on private property goes to Code Enforcement, not Sanitation — Sanitation handles the public street, and dumping on private land is a code violation. If you pick the wrong category, staff can reroute it and you'll see a "Rerouted to …" note.
