NOLAServeUS — Terms of Service

Welcome to NOLAServeUS. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. Please read them, along with our Privacy Policy.

1. What NOLAServeUS is — and isn't

NOLAServeUS is a community-built civic platform for reporting neighborhood issues, backing up your neighbors' reports, and tracking how the City of New Orleans responds. It is independent. We are NOT the City of New Orleans, not a government agency, and not officially affiliated with or endorsed by the City. We forward verified reports to the City's public 311 system as a convenience, but we do not control whether, when, or how the City responds.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a real person to create an account. One account per person. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account.

3. Your content is public

You understand and agree that: - Reports (category, location, description, photos) are public. - Filing a report sends your name to the City's 311 system, just like a 311 call. - Backing or confirming a report shows your name and profile photo to neighbors by default (you can turn this off in your profile). - Posts and comments are public unless you post anonymously.

Only submit content you have the right to share. You keep ownership of what you post, but you grant us a license to display, distribute, and forward it as needed to operate the service (including forwarding reports to the City).

4. Rules — acceptable use

Don't: - File false, fake, or duplicate reports, or manipulate verification. - Harass, threaten, defame, or dox anyone. - Post illegal content, hate speech, explicit or graphic imagery, spam, or ads you're not authorized to place. - Impersonate another person, a city official, or NOLAServeUS staff. - Attempt to break, overload, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the service. - Use the platform for anything unlawful.

Uploaded photos are automatically scanned for explicit or graphic content.

5. Moderation and enforcement

We may remove content, hide posts, restrict features, or suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe harm the community — with or without notice. Verified city and council accounts have additional responsibilities defined by their role.

6. No guarantee of city action

NOLAServeUS is a tool for visibility and accountability, not a guarantee of service. We do not promise the City will act on any report, meet any response target, or resolve any issue. Response-time targets shown in the app are estimates for context, not commitments by the City or by us.

7. Service "as is"

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data (including map, 311, or historical figures) is complete or accurate.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PennTech LLC and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of content you submit or your misuse of the service.

10. Changes and termination

We may modify the service or these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. You may stop using the service at any time; we may suspend or end access for violations.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, and disputes will be handled in the courts of Orleans Parish.
